Quiraing is located near Portree on the Isle of Skye. Very wild, the place is a maze of mountains, valleys and rocky paths. But beware: the place is full of paths going in all directions! It is easy to get lost, even with a good map and a compass!

The best way to start your exploration is from the parking lot at the highest point, which connects Staffin to Uig. Then just take the path, which will take you into the rocks. From there, take another path on your left, which will lead you to the deepest and wildest landscapes of Quiraing.

For the rest, it will be up to you! Set your course and head out to see some of Scotland’s most beautiful scenery!

You will discover impressive “mountains” which are in truth only immense basalt blocks entirely covered with green grass. The relief is very atypical. You will cross there needles pointing towards the sky, but also pillars and other rocky formations with astonishing forms.

Above all, bring a good equipment: hiking shoes, windbreaker, sweater, water and food are essential to explore Quiraing. It is best to go in good weather and in a group… You will easily spend half a day or even the whole day there!

Finally, you should know that the places are accessible by bike (preferably by mountain bike). The paths are rather good, even if they will require form and endurance.

Don’t forget your camera: the site is exceptional and the mountains seem to join the sky and the clouds. The light is beautiful, and the landscapes will take you back to a forgotten time, far from modern society!
